Hawthorn Press publish an excellent Early Years series which has close links with Steiner-Waldorf Early Childhood Education and The Alliance for Childhood. Network Educational Press in Stafford published The Right from the Start Handbook. Promoting Children's Well-being in the Primary Years (2004) and will be the Charity's publisher for the rest of the series. Network Educational Press has already built an enviable reputation with both primary and secondary schools and Early Years’ Settings for providing books, training and conferences that focus on how children learn and how teachers teach in order to meet the diverse needs of the children in their care. This in turn has led the company to look towards current research that sheds light on children’s skills, dispositions, learning styles and multiple intelligences, so that the adults who care for them can respond appropriately to this diversity. As a direct result of this interest, NEP authors Bill Lucas and Alistair Smith produced the company’s first manuscript for parents which developed into our best selling title: Help Your Child To Succeed. NEP was also very pleased to win the ERA (Educational Resource Awards) Best Book for Secondary Schools Award with Accelerated Learning: A User’s Guide (2004). At this time the Directors of NEP became aware of the excellent work of the Charity Right from the Start and the shared principles, aims and ideas of the two companies. They saw a growing need to publish direct and accessible books able to help all adults respond more creatively to the sensitive 'inner' needs of children. They recognised that these single-focus books must be equally relevant to parents, child carers and statutory and voluntary child care organisations on the one hand and to Nursery, Primary and Secondary teachers and training establishments on the other. As a result of this convergence, NEP is delighted to be working closely with Right from the Start and to become its resident publisher into the future. We look forward to a long and rewarding collaboration.
